Arriving under the watchful gaze of Microsoft following its acquisition of inXile Entertainment, Wasteland 3 welcomes the pioneering post-apocalyptic RPG for a third bite at the nuclear stockpile. In Wasteland 3, players will embark on an epic quest in the American Southwest full of turn-based combat, mad cultists, and a branching storyline. It should, fingers crossed, be a fantastic follow-up to Wasteland 2, and here are the PC specs needed to run Wasteland 3.
Wasteland 3 Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows 7 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 4-Core 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8320 8-Core 3.5GHz RAM: 8 GB System Memory GPU RAM: 2GB Video Memory GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7970 HDD: 55GB Available Hard Drive Space DX: DirectX 11
Wasteland 3 Recommended System Requirements
OS: Windows 10 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 4-Core 3.3 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 4-Core 3.5 GHz RAM: 16 GB System Memory GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB HDD: 55GB Available Hard Drive Space DX: DirectX 11
These specs really are a remarkable step up from Wasteland 2’s, which you can see here. That’s to be expected though, it’s been five long years since it first stepped out into the nuclear winter. That said, Wasteland 3 errs on the demanding side for a tactical strategy game. Fortunately, a stable frame rate isn’t an absolute necessity in a turn-based title, although it’s certainly preferable.
For Wasteland 3’s minimum specs you’ll need a quad-core processor paired up with a 2GB DirectX 11 video card. The GTX 760 and Radeon HD 7970 are cited as the minimum requirement, although we’d be interested to see if something like the GTX 750 Ti can still hold its own.
Moving up to the recommended system requirements for Wasteland 3 and you’ll need a fairly typical 4-year-old mid-range system. That’s good news for those of you who’ve got lower-end modern components such as GTX 1050 or a Radeon RX 560 as these are both butting up against the recommended requirements.
