GeForce GTX 1650 Super announced and it’s a huge performance jump over GTX 1650
Comments
While it’s playing second fiddle to the newly announced GeForce GTX 1660 Super, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super 4GBhas also been announced today. We’ve got a little wait on our hands until it launches on November 22nd but the GeForce GTX 1650 Super is also built on the TU116 GPU and, according to Nvidia, offers twice the performance of a Pascal-powered Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.
Specs wise, we’re looking at a fair upgrade from the GeForce GTX 1650. On paper, at least, the GTX 1650 Super is knocking on the door of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660. It’s equipped with 1280 CUDA Cores, 80 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. The GTX 1650 Super has a base clock speed of 1530 MHz and a boost clock of 1725 MHz. With a 43% increase in core count over the base GTX 1650, the GTX 1650 Super is a clear and marked increase over its predecessor.
On the memory front, Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650 Super is equipped with 4GB of faster GDDR6 memory clocked at 12Gb/s on a 128-bit memory interface, providing 192 GB/s total memory bandwidth. Again, this puts it right up in the realm of a GTX 1660. The only downside is the expected increase in power consumption, bumping the Super from 75W up to 100W, and therefore requiring its own power connector by default.

Actual performance details are still a little sketchy at this stage but the 4.4 TFLOP graphics card is comfortably double the performance of a GTX 1050 and also comfortably 30-50% faster than a vanilla GeForce GTX 1650. Compared to the difference between the GTX 1660 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB, it’s a huge bump in performance and could make the GeForce GTX 1650 Super a very tasty entry-level video card indeed.
While we’re still awaiting benchmarks, the GeForce GTX 1650 Super should absolutely excel at budget 1080p gaming performance. The GeForce GTX 1650 Super will be available on November 22nd with pricing yet to be confirmed. If Nvidia can hit the $150-180 price window then we could have an absolute bargain of a graphics card on our hands.
