Here's How A Cyberpunk 2077 Third-Person Mod Could
Despite letting you customize protagonist V, you spend most of your time in Cyberpunk 2077’s in first-person, not seeing too much of your character. A third-person mod could very well solve that, and a video that’s popped up shortly after launch showcases how such a mod could look.
While YouTube user Cineagle clarified that they did not intend to develop a Cyberpunk 2077 third-person mod shortly after posting their video which you’ll find below, it’s a good first look at how V’s walking animations hold up when seen from a different perspective.
It only takes a couple of seconds to notice that V’s walking and jumping animations look a bit uncanny in third-person. Cineagle did use a tool developed for Dirt 5 to pull the camera behind V, but this could also stem from the fact that developer CD Projekt Red simply chose to focus its attention elsewhere, as Cyberpunk 2077 is a predominantly first-person game.
The video also only showcases walking and V does much more than that in the game. Anyone looking to develop a Cyberpunk 2077 third-person mod would likely have their work cut out for themselves. The RPG’s lack of mod support also currently limits the list of offerings to small tweaks and various Reshades, making things harder.
Although a massive amount of players tuned in on Twitch before launch and started journeying through Night City as soon as it opened its gates, CD Projekt Red hasn’t been having that great of a time with its newest game.
In between the disastrous technical state of the game on PS4 and Xbox One – which saw it pulled from the former’s store –, the plethora of bugs, and optimization issues reported across the board, the developer has a lot to fix.
Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Google Stadia.
