Avalanche Studios Founder Christofer Sundberg Opens New

After a year-long break from the games industry, Avalanche Studios founder and Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg has returned, announcing a new studio called Liquid Swords.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Liquid Swords will focus on developing games “focused on high action and giant spectacle.”

“We have no intention of reshaping the world of storytelling as we know it. Our road to leaving our mark and making a difference in the industry is built first and foremost on games that are immediately accessible and consistently rewarding.” Sundberg said.

“The ultimate goal of Liquid Swords is to bring back game development to where it should be: intensely creative and fun while at the same time bringing game development forward with a strong focus on building innovative action experiences rather than business plans and spreadsheets.”

At the same time, Sundberg admits that Liquid Swords is still a business and “not a playground for aimless ideas”.

The studio will also use its “semi-distributed development approach” to aid other developers around the world, with details about founding partners, locations and its technology being set to come in “early 2021.”
