Hades is about to become the first prisoner of war to make the great escape from the Epic Games Store, leaping like a salmon-y Steve McQueen over to its new home on good old Steam.
Developed by Supergiant Games, of Bastion and Transistor fame, Hades Early Access was an Epic Games Store launch title in December of 2018. It was announced at The Game Awards and launched there and then. We’re now coming up to the one-year anniversary of Hades’ Early Access launch, meaning the timed exclusivity is up. As a result, Hades will come to Steam through the Early Access program on December 10. Perhaps they should rename it Not So Early Access?
“We think Hades combines many of the best aspects of our previous games, and we really hope you enjoy it once you get a chance to play — whether in Steam Early Access starting December 10 this year, or after v1.0 sometime in the second half of 2020,” wrote Supergiant in a message to fans on Steam.
By all accounts, Hades is an absolutely fantastic game if you’ve got the stomach for yet another roguelike. I don’t know how many more we need but evidently the thirst is still very real for punishing combat and a trip back to the start upon every death.
