AMD’s Radeon Vega products have been left out in the cold for a while in terms of the Radeon Image Sharpening feature included as part of the FidelityFX suite. Team Red has been working from the bottom of its deck upwards and has now added support for Radeon Image Sharpening to its Radeon VII, Radeon RX Vega 64, Radeon RX Vega 56, and Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics cards via its Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.9.3 GPU driver.
Radeon Image Sharpening is a software tool used to improve lost graphics clarity while playing a game. It utilises contrast-adaptive sharpening in conjunction with optional GPU upscaling in order to provide a sharper looking image with a minimal performance impact. As of this driver update, Radeon Image Sharpening is available on Vega, the Radeon RX 5700 series, Radeon RX 570 and upwards, and Radeon RX 470 and upwards.
Naturally, that’s not all for this driver update though, which also includes official support for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Ubisoft’s co-op loot shooter is out today is you fork out for the expensive Ultimate Edition or subscribe to Uplay+, while the standard launch is on October 4th.
As ever, there are a couple of other fixed issues as well as some known issues to look out for. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice should no longer show texture corruption in the late game on AMD hardware, while Discord should no longer hang while using Radeon RX 5700 or Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics cards.
The big issues to look out for are Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 stuttering with a few system configs, display artefacts when using a Radeon RX 5700 series graphics card and a 75Hz display, as well as elevated memory clocks while an AMD Radeon VII is idling.
Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.9.3 Fixed Issues
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice may exhibit texture corruption during later parts of the game. Discord may experience an application hang on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products when HW acceleration is enabled.
Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.9.3 Known Issues
Toggling HDR may cause system instability during gaming when Radeon ReLive is enabled. Display artifacts may be experienced on some 75hz display configurations on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics system configurations. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 may experience stutter on some system configurations. Open Broadcasting Software may experience frame drops or stutter when using AMF encoding on some system configurations. HDMI overscan and underscan options may be missing from Radeon Settings on AMD Radeon VII system configurations when the primary display is set to 60hz. Stutter may be experienced when Radeon FreeSync is enabled on 240hz refresh displays with Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. AMD Radeon VII may experience elevated memory clocks at idle or on desktop.
You can download the latest AMD Radeon driver manually from AMD’s site or you can just auto-update through your current Adrenalin software installation.
