Here we go, it’s time for one final peek at Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds before it’s launch time. They’ve dropped a launch trailer for Outer Worlds which pretty much sums up all you need to know about this off-the-wall sci-fi RPG.
Heavily inspired by one of Obsidian’s previous games, the beloved Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds is player-driven narrative RPG with compelling choices to be made and plenty of ways to go about making them.
And can I just say how much of a blessed relief it is to have the normal version of a song in a trailer? Normally we get some god-awful, moody, slow-paced cover but this is straight up T. Rex and it perfectly captures the retro-future vibe Obsidian is shooting for with The Outer Worlds.
We’ve also been sent global unlock times for Outer Worlds, although the time you can begin playing is going to depend on whether you;re on PC or console. The PC version releases simultaneously around the globe at 00:01am BST on October 25th, while the console version is a staggered release unless you happen to live on the US west coast, oddly enough.
The system requirements for The Outer Worlds were revealed earlier this week and you’ll only need a fairly modest gaming PC in order to get it up and running. Be sure to check out the full breakdown for yourself right on over here.
Without the launch trailer out the way, we’ve not long to wait now. The Outer Worlds is this coming Friday, October 25th, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. On PC it’s exclusive to the Windows Store and the Epic Games Store, although the cheapest way to play it is to sign up for a month of Xbox Game Pass for PC (and vanilla Xbox Game Pass for Xbox players), which sure beats spending £50.
