Blizzard currently has a grand total of eight job listings open for positions related to an “unannounced project” within the Diablo franchise. There’s already one announced project, Diablo Immortal, so the natural suspicion is this, in fact, Diablo 4.

Positions are available for everything from narrative designer to software engineers, as well both character and concept artists for the unannounced Diablo project. Presumably, the ability to draw an obscene number of immensely detailed horns on demand is a prerequisite.

The bad news here, of course, is with these positions being open we’re probably still a long, long way away from Diablo 4 hitting store shelves. However, just to fan the flames somewhat, France’s Le Monde newspaper is reporting that Diablo 4 is actively being shown off internally at Blizzard Entertainment. Employees were allegedly shown Diablo 4 in Paris.

“Teams at Blizzard Entertainment have already been presented with the long-awaited Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch game is in development,” writes Le Monde. “Neither of these two games will be released before 2020, at the very best, and employees at Versailles have no idea if they will still be around when they eventually release.”

Expecting either of those games before the year’s end seems optimistic in the extreme. We’d be surprised if either Overwatch 2 or Diablo 4 manage to rear their heads before even 2021.

But nevermind, we’ve still got Diablo Immortal to keep us busy. Does anyone remember that? It’s been about eight months since Blizzard so controversially revealed the mobile spin-off and we haven’t really heard a sniff of it since. That’s probably for the best, to be honest. Let sleeping dogs lie and all that, as some folks were absolutely frothing with rage at the audacity of Blizzard making a game for mobile phones.

Both parties should be pleased with the eventual outcome though, which is surely going to lead us to both Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4 being released. Fingers crossed we hear something, anything, about Diablo 4 at BlizzCon later this year.
