AMD Navi RX 5700 XT Game FPS Benchmarks, Specs, Prices compared To Nvidia RTX 2070
Comments
Today is launch day for AMD’s latest graphics cards, the AMD RX 5700 & the RX 5700 XT. These two cards are built on the long awaited Navi 7nm process architecture, which has been reportedly chosen as the foundation of the next gen consoles, PS5 and the Xbox 2, which is in itself quite the vote of confidence.
Its certainly a shame that today’s launch, which is one of the first big AMD graphics card launches in a while, has been purposefully confused by the competition, who released a sneaky set of cards of their own. But that is the nature of the industry and meant that AMD responded with pre-launch price cuts for both Navi cards. So while unsportsmanlike, thats a win for us gamers despite being a bit over shadowing.
Its all about finding the best deals for gamers, so cutting straight to it, the question on everyone’s lips is going to be, do these two new Navi based AMD graphics cards deliver better price to performance than whatever their counterparts can offer?

What graphics cards does the AMD RX 5700 XT compete against in the Nvidia range?
AMD has positioned their RX 5700 XT against Nvidia’s RTX 2070 and their RX 5700 is placed to compete against the RTX 2060. Now its always like comparing apples with oranges when you get Nvidia and AMD cards side by side, but the elephant in the room is that the new Navi cards dont offer ray tracing technology. This new effect was introduced in the RTX Nvidia cards to offer realistic lighting and reflection effects. To counter this AMD’s RX 5000 Series cards have their own Radeon Image Sharpening and Radeon Anti-Lag.
What is AMD’s Radeon Image Sharpening Feature?
This new Navi architecture feature returns lost graphics clarity, in-game, due to other post-processing graphics enhancing effects.
What is AMD’s Radeon Anti-Lag Feature?
This new in-game graphics technology is largely a boost for competitive play. It will reduce response time between a player input and the action carried out on display by up to a reported 31%.
So AMD Navi is not without its juicy tech, but really, what a gamer is most interested in is two things. First, how many frames per second am I going to get in my favourite game if I use AMD’s new RX 5700 XT instead of the Nvidia card and then how much do I have to pay for that compared to the Nvidia equivalent?
When does the AMD Navi Radeon RX 5700 XT release date?
Both of the new Navi-powered graphics cards launch on July 7th 2019.
What is the AMD Navi Radeon RX 5700 XT launch price?
The launch price of the Navi architecture based Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card was $399 and its weaker partner card, the RX 5700’s release price is $349. But that price was not the RX 5700 Navi card’s originally intended launch price.
The more powerful Navi RX 5700 XT graphics card was intended to have a launch price tag of $449, and its weaker launch partner card, the RX 5700, was going to be a little less at $379. But Nvidia pushed through a cheeky early release of their RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2060 Super to draw away some of the attention from these AMD RX 5700 XT releases. Which totally worked as here we are talking about Nvidia again.
Speaking of which here’s some more information on those two Nvidia cards, in case you want a gaming performance reference.

What is the game clock for AMD Navi Radeon RX 5700 XT?
Both RX 5000 cards use the new Navi 10 GPU, which is built with new RDNA graphics architecture. First off the RX 5700 XT has 8GB GDDR6, 2,560 cores, and a game clock speed of 1,755MHz. Whereas the weaker RX 5700 has the same 8GB GDDR6, 2,304 cores and a Game Clock of 1,625MHz.
AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT performance
The RX 5700’s are both targeting a specific Nvidia RTX card. The RX 5700XT is up against the RTX 2070 and then the RX 5700 is taking on the RTX 2060. As this is AMD’s data release its no great surprise that AMDs selected gaming benchmarks came in a bit ahead of the GeForce RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 GPUs.

Conclusion and Gamer Insight
Thats quite a lot of game FPS and cost analysis data to digest, but put simply these new AMD cards are coming out fighting. They are topping a lot of the frame rate charts above and delivering them at a better cost per frame rate as well. However, it is definitely a good job AMD lowered their launch prices, because they have to now compete against the new RTX Super cards and Nvidia have put them out to give a much tougher price to performance fight. We have also published another article that does a similar deep dive into a comparison between the Nvidia Super cards versus the AMD RX 5700 Navi’s to see how they stack up, so pop over there to see that FPS to $ analysis as well.
