Having learned plenty of lessons from Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution, Frontier’s Planet Zoo promises to be the ultimate zoo simulation. Players are given fine control over designing habits, breeding animals, and constructing a zoo that anybody would want to visit. Planet Zoo looks like a dream come true for management fans, let’s just hope we can all meet the minimum specs for Planet Zoo.

Planet Coaster is still one of the most demanding games on PC, and the PC specs for Planet Zoo suggest the follow-up is no slouch easier. Frontier is suggesting a mid-range 2GB video card such as the GeForce GTX 770 or Radeon R9 270X as the absolute minimum, paired with 8GB RAM and, at the very least, a quad-core processor.
Frontier’s previous Planet game, Planet Coaster, was an absolute guzzler when it came to CPU demands. Seriously, the larger parks could bring even the beefiest processor to its knees once you had dozens of rides and thousands of guests. As such, we’d take the minimum spec CPU very seriously.
We anticipated that Planet Zoo should be a little easier going though than Planet Coaster though. You won’t have towering roller coasters here; although everyone animal inhabitant will running its own AI routine. Ultimately, we’d expect the two games to run fairly similarly, although the smaller scale should work in Planet Zoo’s favour, as it did with Jurassic World Evolution.
Should you want to max out Planet Zoo’s visuals, and get your zootopia looking its finest, you will need a hefty 8GB video card such as the GeForce GTX 1070 or the Radeon RX 580, along with a strong quad-core CPU. Speaking from experience, Planet Coaster can chug on a quad-core though, so it’s perhaps worth investing in a higher spec processor even that the recommended requirements for Planet Zoo.
