I’m beginning to lose count of all these Dragon Ball Z games these days but DBZ: Kakarot, once known as Dragon Ball – Project Z, is coming to PC and consoles on January 17th.

The news was announced during Tokyo Game Show 2019, an event running this week over in Japan. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot iiiiiiis *checks notes* an action RPG which retells the story of the iconic Goku on his rise up the ranks. You’ll be training with Gohan, Vegeta, and an assortment of other DBZ characters as well as exploring a world in which you can go fishing, cook up meals and, of course, fight. Lots and lots of fighting, because I think that’s what Dragon Ball Z is.

We also got a brand spanking new trailer for DBZ: Kakarot, showcasing all sorts of bits from the history of the Dragon Ball Z show, including the SPOILER death of Raditz. I will say it does look very nice; the cel-shaded visuals really do help bring the show to life in a manner that’s above and beyond the Xenoverse titles. It still no Dragon Ball FighterZ in the looks department but that’s a near-impossible goal for a pseudo open-world title.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is developed by CyberConnect2, published by Bandai Namco, and will be out on January 17th, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
