It’s been kicking around for what feels like an age now but at Gamescom publisher Deep Silver has finally confirmed a release date for Iron Harvest. The alt-history real-time strategy game is now locked in for a September 1st launch in 2020.

Iron Harvest was one of those games which managed to grab headlines from its artwork alone, before we’d even managed to snatch a glimpse at gameplay. It’s set in an alternate reality version of the 1920’s, after the First World War. Scientific and technological progress has accelerated at a faster rate, welcoming dieselpunk mechs to the battlefield.

It looks like a classic old-school RTS, complete with a trio of single-player campaigns, full destructible environments, base building, and Company of Heroes-style resource points. For the competitive-minded, Iron Harvest will also have ranked multiplayer with ladders and leagues.

You can check out the latest gameplay from Iron Harvest below. It looks as if it’s shaping up very nicely indeed, even with a year and change to go until launch.

It’s actually coming to consoles as well, although we have no idea how it’ll actually end up playing with a gamepad. We’d guess ‘not well’ but we’re always open to being surprised.

Iron Harvest is out on September 1st, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’ll be available via Steam and GOG at launch so rest assured an Epic Games Store exclusivity deal seems fairly unlikely at this point.
