Gamescom 2019: Sega drops surprise Yakuza Remastered Collection, includes Yakuza 3, 4, and 5

I don’t know how I missed this one but Sega shadow-dropped The Yakuza Remastered Collection during Gamescom. Yakuza: Remastered Collection restores the PS3 Yakuza trilogy in 1080p, 60 frames per second for the first time.
The included games are Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, and Yakuza 5 Remastered. It’s available to buy now but the trio are being released in a staggered fashion. Yakuza 3 is available to download right now, Yakuza 4 is out on October 29th, and Yakuza 5 arrives on February 11th, 2020.
It now means that the entire mainline Yakuza series from Yakuza Zero to Yakuza 6 is all playable on PlayStation 4 for the first time, which is a hell of a treat for anybody who hasn’t experienced Kazuma Kiryu’s epic saga just yet.
Of course, what we’re really interested in is what this means for PC gamers. Right now, you can play Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PC, complete with all 4K support and mouse and keyboard trimmings. We still don’t have Yakuza 3 through to 6, although we’ve been given fresh hope with this remastered collection. Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato told VG247 “I can’t comment on that at this very moment,” when asked about a PC version.
By all accounts, Sega seems pretty pleased with how the Yakuza series has performed on PC so far so we really are expecting a PC version of this collection at some point. It’s by no means confirmed but we reckon it’s an odds-on chance. Then that would just leave us waiting for a PC version of Yakuza 6, which seems a cinch considering it runs on the same Dragon Engine powering Yakuza Kiwami 2.
