Rockstar has dropped the first patch for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. Update v1.0.9.164 takes aim the various crash to desktop and failure to launch issues which have been plaguing many users.

Issues which are allegedly tackled include the “Rockstar Games Launcher failed to initialize” bug, a broken decryption process, and an error which crashes back to desktop which spits out the message “The Rockstar Games launcher exited unexpectedly”.

I say allegedly because I’ve been stuck with the “Rockstar Games Launcher exited unexpectedly” and I have been unable to play Red Dead Redemption 2 since launch. This patch has done precisely nothing to change that and RDR2 still fails to launch.
