Senua’s back and thirsting for more inner demons to take down. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was announced The Game Awards overnight. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is the sequel to Hellblade: Senuas Sacrifice. Microsoft also confirmed Ninja Theory’s cinematic action game will be powered by the newly unveiled Xbox Series X.
Details a little thin on the ground for the sequel, aside from a really rather lovely new trailer. Ninja Theory and Microsoft are claiming this is footage which has all been captured in-engine from Hellblade 2, powered by the next-gen capabilities of the Xbox Series X. It’s a looker alright, offering some fairly staggering attention-to-detail in certain areas. Now we’re just keen to find out whether this fidelity will hold up during actual gameplay.
I thought the presentation values of the original Hellblade were top tier, although the game itself, including the action sequences and rudimentary puzzle solving, felt as if they fell a long way short of a typical Ninja Theory title. With a bigger budget and Microsoft’s arm around them though, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II could well follow through and deliver on all that promise.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is coming to the Xbox Series X, and, presumably, PC. There’s no release window just yet, suggesting this could be a 2021 title at least.
