Right, it’s time to stop messing around with rumours, cast lists, and stills from the set. Netflix has dropped the first official trailer for The Witcher Season 1, its upcoming series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher novels. They’ve slapped ‘teaser’ across it, although at two minutes it’s much more than that.
Some fairly gritty fantasy appears to be the order of the day here, although some of the more, ahem, adult elements of The Witcher look as if they’re being kept under wraps for now. Henry Cavill is definitely doing a passable impression of Geralt of Rivia, Anaya Chalotra steps as Yenenefer and Freya Allan becomes a very young Ciri.
There’s definitely some big bags of cash behind this production though, and Netflix will be hoping The Witcher can become its very own Game of Thrones. That’s an almost impossibly tall order though, and Netflix’s, erm, unreliable quality levels mean we’ve either got a stonecold hit or a thunderous dud on our hands.
The Witcher is simply ‘coming soon’ to Netflix, meaning we’re expecting a late 2019 debut for the series. Get voting in the poll and let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments section below!
