We still barely know what the heck it even is yet but Rainbow Six Siege spin-off Rainbow Six Quarantine now has a release window. Other than a vague 2020 launch date we were none the wiser when this co-op sci-fi shooter was coming, although Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has now told investors R6: Quarantine will launch before the end of this fiscal year.

It means that Rainbow Six Quarantine is due to release on PC and consoles at any point from January to March 2020. The next fiscal year kicks off on April 1st, 2020.

This leaves Ubisoft is a bit of an unusual position. The French publishers tends to enjoy spreading its release dates out as much as humanly possible, and yet Ubisoft now has three games confirmed for Q1 2020. Gods & Monsters is scheduled for February 25th, Watch Dogs Legion lands on March 6th, and now we’d hazard a guess Rainbow Six Quarantine is launching in either January or late March 2020.

Before all that though, we’d love to know just what Rainbow Six Quarantine is. The blurb says “The Rainbow Operators will face off against a totally new breed of mutated alien parasite. Infecting human hosts and their surroundings, this new enemy is more lethal and challenging than ever before. Prepare to launch into tense, chaotic and totally unpredictable missions as you and your squad risk everything, every time you step into Quarantine.”

It’s clearly inspired by the timed Outbreak event for Rainbow Six Siege which took place last year. That was a mode which outstayed its welcome far too quickly though, so the expectation is Rainbow 6 Quarantine offers a far deeper long-term experience. Reading between lines, we’re anticipating some form of procedurally generated level designs. All should be revealed soon enough though with a maximum of eight months to go until launch.
