CD Projekt RED loves a pro-consumer / positive PR move, so it comes as little surprise to hear they won’t be offering any pre-order bonuses whatsoever for Cyberpunk 2077.
It doesn’t matter whether you order Cyberpunk 2077 now, or wait until a deep discount in the Steam 2022 Summer Sale, you’ll be getting exactly the same content. It’s a marked departure from usual AAA fare. The likes of EA, Activision, and Ubisoft love doling out pieces of pre-order DLC and platform-exclusive bonuses, much to the chagrin of fans.
CDPR was asked by a fan on Twitter whether there would be any pre-order bonus for their copy of CP2077, to which they said “No, we don’t do that. Every person that buys the game gets exactly the same in-game content, no matter if they buy it in pre-orders, on release date or 2 years later.”
It’s a similar deal to The Witcher 3. There’ll be a special collector’s edition and whatnot, but in terms of the core game content, it’ll be identical from player to player. The Witcher 3 took it a step further with 16 additional post-launch slices of DLC which were free to all players. The cynic would argue this was a tactic to prevent physical copy trade-ins, but who are we to argue with more content.
Congrats to CD Projekt RED for doing things the right way. Again. Now if every big publisher/developer could just follow suit that would be absolutely fantastic.
Cyberpunk 2077 comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 16th. Remember to pre-order now for ‘nothing’.

“And CDPR make me love them even more. People truly in touch with what gamers want.I’m hoping this becomes the best selling game ever, so other companies will take note.”

“We are praising the absolute minimum in game development these days. Such a shame how parasitic and greedy the industry has become.”

“If one day CDPR decides to start doing every greedy practice there is, it’s a day when gaming dies – but seeing how they react to these practices, I doubt it’ll ever happen(I hope).”
