The original Steel Division was a great game hampered by one or two teething issues. Steel Division 2 is out this Thursday and provides some sweeping enhancements, including a 1:1 scale dynamic campaign mode, more than 600 unique units, and support thousands of units on maps stretching up to 150x100km. It’s World War 2 on an epic scale, but are Steel Division 2’s PC system specs just as epic? Let’s find out.

It’s been just over two years since Steel Division: Normandy 44 first graced us with its presence and precious little has changed in terms of the system specs. For those looking to just get Steel Division 2 up and running, it should be a piece of cake. You’ll likely need to make a few graphical sacrifices if you’re hovering near the minimum specs of course, but for the most part a low-end system should be able to cope just fine.
The minimum requirements for Steel Division 2 are pretty much identical to the original. You’ll need an extremely low-end dual-core processor as well as one of the earliest DX11 video cards. Either the Nvidia GTS 450 or Radeon HD 5570 will do, or the GeForce GT 1030 or Radeon RX 460 if you’re looking for some modern equivalents.
Steel Division 2’s recommended specs take a slight jump, although if you could run Steel Division 1944 at acceptable frame rates then odds are you can expect very similar performance here. A quad-core CPU is recommended for the larger-scale battles, as well as a mid-range graphics cards such as the GeForce GTX 1060 3Gb or Radeon RX 580 4GB. For legacy variants, look toward the GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon R9 290X.
