While CD Projekt RED is earning all the headlines (hopefully) cooking up something special with Cyberpunk 2077, it’s also got a few other buns in the oven, so to speak. Chiefly, CDPR is still forging ahead with Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, its free-to-play spin-off based on The Witcher 3’s heinously popular in-game activity.
Next on the agent is Novigrad, the next major expansion for Gwent. Announced yesterday, Gwent: Novigrad is coming to Gwent: The Witcher Card Game later this month, building a new card expansion around the iconic city of the North.
“Don’t be fooled by the city’s beauty and wealth — it’s rotten to the core,” writes CDPR. “Crime lords are vying for control of the streets using any means at their disposal. Yet strange events are becoming more commonplace. Once rival gangs are now being seen working together. The chaos is evolving, but why? And more importantly, into what?”
Gwent: Novigrad introduces the Syndicate as a new playable faction. The denizens of Novigrad’s underworld will be found in more than 90 new cards, as well as 15-cross-faction cards.
The Novigrad expansion will be free, of sorts, but you’ll need to either purchase or unlock card packs in order to benefit from the additions. There are a couple of different pre-order options though, ranging from £15.49 up to £30.99. Each comes with a bunch of Novigrad Kegs as well as unique card backs.
Gwent: Novigrad is out on PC and consoles from June 28th.
