Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD was revealed with one of the worst game trailers ever unleashed onto this hurtling ball of molten rock we call Earth but Sega has set the record straight with a first gameplay trailer.
And, yep, it’s Super Monkey Ball alright. Out with the awful motion controls, in with the classic tilt-the-level action. If you had a Nintendo Wii, you may have already played this title. Using that pesky Wiimote to navigate a monkey in a ball through an obstacle course was an exercise in frustration but it’s all looking a whole lot better here. And, for your viewing pleasure, the original announcement trailer:
Now we’re just desperate for this revival to pick up a bit of interest. The original Super Monkey Ball games were utterly fantastic arcade titles, with subsequent sequels careening off-course and killing it dead for a good few years.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD is out on October 29th, 2019, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
