Respawn to show off playable demo of AAA VR action title at Oculus Connect next month

Apex Legends developer Respawn has confirmed it will be revealing its all-new AAA first-person VR combat experience during the Oculus Connect event. “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Oculus to create an amazing first-person combat experience for VR,” Respawn announced on Twitter.
Oculus Connect runs over 25th and 26th September and is an event designed to play host to Oculus game reveals and tech innovations. Oculus is obviously out and about looking for projects to fund to make its headset a little more enticing, and a project from Respawn Entertainment certainly fits the bill.
Respawn has been saying for some time now it was another AAA project in the works, the only question remaining is what the game will actually be. Tacking onto the Apex Legends hype seems to be the smart move. Respawn has told fans it’s absolutely not a new Titanfall project despite being the obvious fit for VR. The final possibility is an entirely new IP.
“While the game remains secret (spoiler: it’s not Titanfall or Star Wars), our relationship with Oculus is now out in the open,” wrote director Peter Hirschmann in a letter to fans. “We couldn’t be happier to have such a great partner, and to be building our game on such an amazing platform as the Rift.”
For those in attendance at Oculus Connect in the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, Respawn will be providing a hands-on playable demo. It’s unclear whether the game will be a 100% Oculus exclusive at this point, nor is it known whether it’s coming to the Oculus Quest alongside the Oculus Rift.
