Techland has just gone and confirmed Dying Light 2 is one of the first-ever announced next-generation titles. The Polish studio announced Dying Light 2 back at E3 2018, revealing it would be coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. They’ve now gone one step further, claiming Dying Light 2 has been designed since the beginning to be a cross-gen title.
Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys!” said Techlands’s Pavel Rohleder during a chat with WCCFTech. “To be more specific — yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title.”
From the sounds of things then, Dying Light 2 will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, the PS5, Xbox Scarlett, and, naturally, PC. Techland is currently targeting native 1080p resolution on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, while the sky’s obviously the limit for PC players.
It should mean that Dying Light 2 ends up being a fantastic-looking game, hopefully. The original was actually quite under-rated in terms of visuals but for the time I thought it looked great. The PC version should look even better as well, with Techland admitting they’re taking a serious look at incorporated ray-traced lighting effects into Dying Light 2. “At Techland, we have always been keen on new technologies, especially when it comes to photo-realism and graphical fidelity,” explained Rohleder. “Ray tracing has been the holy grail of real-time computer graphics for years, so of course we are looking into it.”
On the subject of Nvidia DLSS support though? They’re a whole lot less keen but are still looking into what it may offer.
Dying Light 2 is currently scheduled to launch in the first half of 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
