NBA 2K20 is a game which is in massive danger of being completely overshadowed by its own loot boxes, gambling, and microtransaction controversies. For those after a decent hoop-shooter though, the NBA 2K series is still the best we’ve got. NBA 2K20 offers an upgrade motion engine, advanced shooting, new dribble size-up system, and more. As for the rig you’ll need to play NBA 2K20, well, the system requirements for NBA 2K20 will be very familiar to NBA 2K19 fans.

Visual Concepts and 2K Sports were clearly aiming to make my job, and theirs, as easy as possible with NBA 2K20. The PC system requirements for NBA 2K20 are exactly the same as the system specs for NBA 2K19, bar one small change – the install size has been bumped up from 70GB to 80GB. Boy, those slot machines, roulette wheels and pachinko machines sure are heavy.

For long-time NBA 2K fans though, none of this will come as a surprise. NBA 2K19’s system specs were the same as NBA 2K18, and those in turn were the same as the system requirements for NBA 2K17 and, well, you get the picture; the season roll by yet not a whole lot changes on the court.

In 2018, in pretty much the same article, I said “Last year pretty much all we got was a roster update and more egregious microtransactions, and NBA 2K19 is looking like an eerily similar scenario.” Time really is a flat circle.

Onto NBA 2K20’s PC system requirements though, and once again these are the average system requirements we’d expect from a AAA game in about 2014. A mid-range 2GB DX11 video card should be able to max out NBA 2K20’s graphics settings at 1080p. Something along the lines of a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 570 shouldn’t have any issues. Just about any Intel Core or AMD FX-4xxx CPU and upwards should be able to run NBA 2K20 fine, although if you’ve got a dual-core you may find yourself restricted to lower frame rates.

One final thing to note – 2K recommends you use a dual-analogue controller to play NBA 2K20. Having suffered benchmarking the likes of NBA 2K and FIFA with a mouse and keyboard before, it really is highly recommended you utilise a traditional gamepad for the optimum experience.
