Believe it or not, the Shadowbringers expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the highest reviewed game of this entire year. It is adored by fans of the MMORPG and widely heralded as the greatest Final Fantasy experience ever.
But, the expansion’s launch in July was just the beginning. The first major post-launch update for FFXIV: Shadowbringers is inbound on October 29th. Square Enix has dropped a new trailer for FFXIV Patch 5.1, featuring a Nier Automata cross-over with the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse alliance raid and all sorts of other new adventures which will be coming in the free update.
As with every major updated for Final Fantasy XIV, the update adds new Main Scenario Quests which tells the next chapter of the Shadowbringers storyline. This cultimates in ‘The Copied Factor’, a 24-player raid created with the assistance of Yoko Taro. It’s set in the world of Nier as players battle against machine lifeforms.
Other changes for Final Fantasy XIV: Patch 5.1 – Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty includes a New Game+ for those who want to replay older content, a new Hades (Extreme) trial, The Grand Cosmos dungeon, new Beast Tribe quests, a new PvP map ‘Onsal Hakair’, job tweaks and adjustments, a crafting overhaul, and the introduction of the new Fellowship community system.
It is, without a doubt, a fantastic MMORPG which is only getting better. You can actually play Final Fantasy XIV for free, up to level 35, if you haven’t given it a shot yet. After this it requires a monthly subscription to keep playing.
