Remnant: From the Ashes was given the red carpet treatment during the PC Gaming Show. The new game from Gunfire Games, they of Darksiders 3 fame (fame’s probably too strong a word), Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival action shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by monsters. It’s got online co-op and all the delicious loot we’ve come to expect from this game, as well as ultra-hard boss fights and endlessly generated worlds to explore.
All signs point toward Remnant: From the Ashes being one to keep an eye on when it launches on August 20th, but about those all-important system specs?
Remnant: From the Ashes Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows 7 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz RAM: 8 GB System Memory GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R7 370 DX: DirectX 11 HDD: 40 GB available space
Remnant: From the Ashes Recommended System Requirements
OS: Windows 7 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz RAM: 16 GB System Memory GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB DX: DirectX 11 HDD: 40 GB available space
Remnant: From the Ashes certainly appears to be a game which is CPU limited. Both the minimum and recommended specs for Remnant lean heavily on processor power over all else. To that end, the minimum spec Intel Core i5-4690K or AMD FX-8320 really are both quite high indeed for minimum requirements. I think it’s time for an upgrade for yours truly, my Core i5-4690K is beginning its slide from grace.
CPUs aside, the rest of Remnant: From the Ashes PC system requirements aren’t too bad at all. The minimum and recommended graphics cards are pretty much the boilerplate options these days, and the level of performance offered by the GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 480 is available for very reasonable prices if you shop around.
The only other potential snag is the 16GB recommended RAM. It’s rare for a game to exceed 8GB in usage, to be honest, so we’d surprised if Remnant: FtA does actually eat up anywhere near 16GB on higher settings. That said, 8GB should definitely be seen as the bare minimum if you don’t want your system memory to dramatically impact performance.
As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Remnant: From the Ashes System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users.
